P3 queda sobre el lobulillo parietal inferior izquierdo, entre las áreas 7 y 40 de Brodmann. Desde aquí se estudian la atención, el cálculo y el lenguaje escrito.
Qué es
P3 está a mitad de camino entre Pz y P7: en la medida original, al 25 % del arco posterior que va de P7 a P8 pasando por Pz 1.
Qué hay debajo
Herwig y colaboradores alcanzaron con P3 las áreas 7 y 40 del lobulillo parietal inferior en 21 personas; en cerca del 10 % de las medidas cayó en áreas vecinas 2. El giro angular y el supramarginal no se separan con un electrodo de cuero cabelludo: un P3 cubre los dos y algo más 23.
Lo que dicen los estudios
El giro angular interviene en la lectura, el número, la memoria, la atención y la cognición social, y se lo describe como un nodo multimodal 4. Un metaanálisis de 120 estudios situó su parte posterior en la red semántica del hemisferio izquierdo 5.
Qué se ve en el EEG
El P3b del P300 nace en actividad temporoparietal ligada a la atención y la memoria; las contribuciones a la novedad proceden sobre todo del parietal inferior y del prefrontal 67.
