Lobulillo parietal inferior: giros angular y supramarginal

El lobulillo parietal inferior agrupa los giros angular y supramarginal. Es un nodo multimodal para el lenguaje escrito, el número y la atención dirigida a lo saliente.

Qué es

El giro angular ocupa la parte posterior del lobulillo y se ha propuesto que tiene varias subdivisiones 1. La tractografía muestra, además del fascículo arqueado directo, una vía indirecta que pasa por aquí: un segmento anterior (de Broca al parietal) y uno posterior (del parietal a Wernicke) 2.

Para qué sirve

El angular participa en el procesamiento semántico, la lectura, el número, la memoria, la atención y la cognición social 1. Un metaanálisis de 120 estudios situó la parte posterior del lobulillo en la red semántica del hemisferio izquierdo 3. Las regiones parietales inferiores también sostienen la atención y detectan eventos salientes 4.

Cuando falla

La negligencia espacial unilateral sigue con más frecuencia a lesiones del hemisferio derecho y se explica mejor por fallo de redes de atención que por daño de un punto único 5. El síndrome de Gerstmann (acalculia, agnosia digital, desorientación derecha-izquierda y agrafia) se cuestiona desde hace décadas 67.

En psiquiatría

En dislexia, un metaanálisis de 17 estudios halló hipoactivación del parietal inferior, del temporal superior, medio e inferior y del fusiforme izquierdos 8.
